What it is

A battery, a heater and a controller in one 20 × 20 cm block

The H1X is the hot element of the VIDACASA system: a 20 × 20 × 5 cm cell with a 36 W heater, an interchangeable lithium‑ion battery pack and a thermal controller that holds the pan above it at a set temperature. Two settings: 80°C for holding cooked food, 110°C for a carvery, a roast or anything that has to stay hotter for longer. Status lights show the mode and the state of charge.

Because the battery is a separate pack, a flat pack is swapped for a charged one in seconds and service carries on. Packs recharge in the 6x or 18x dock; a full recharge takes 13 hours, so packs charge overnight for the next day.

The cell drops into the same 20 × 20 cm well as the C1 Pro cold cell and the Heat Blaster Insert. One Classic, Universal or Tabletop frame therefore runs hot today and subzero tomorrow.

Charge

Packs charge in the 6x or 18x dock. Full recharge: 13 hours, so charge overnight.

02

Click in

Fit a charged pack to the cell and select 80°C or 110°C. The status lights confirm mode and charge.

03

Drop in

Set the cell in the well of any Classic, Universal or Tabletop frame. Pan on top. Serve.

04

Swap

Long service? Swap the pack mid‑service and keep going. Recharge the spent pack for tomorrow.

Performance and duration

The H1X holds; it does not cook. Load the pan hot, from the oven or the pass, and the cell keeps it at serving temperature for the stated period. It will not bring cold food up to 80°C in useful time.

The hold times are for a loaded pan with the lid or roll‑top closed in indoor service. Three things shorten them: an open pan, wind across an outdoor line, and food that went in below serving temperature. Two things extend them: a lid, and a second charged pack in the carrier.

At 110°C the heater works harder, so the pack lasts around two hours instead of three. Use 110°C for a carvery, roast potatoes and anything served on a hot plate; use 80°C for stews, rice, sauces and breakfast lines.

Lifespan, care and warranty

The cell has no moving parts and no fuel. Its wear item is the battery pack, and the pack is a separate, replaceable part: when a pack ages, you buy a pack, not a cell. Rated cycle life is on the spec sheet ([TBD]).

Wipe the cell and pack with a damp cloth; do not immerse. Store packs part‑charged if they will sit for weeks. Warranty is one year on factory functions from the date of purchase.

What it costs to run

There is no fuel. A hotel breakfast line on chafing gel burns through cans every service — around 2,000 a year for a single line by our estimate — and every can is an open flame under a pan. An H1X is recharged from the wall for a few cents of electricity, and its only recurring cost is the eventual battery pack.

There is no wiring. An induction line needs dedicated circuits, an electrician and cords across the floor; the H1X needs a socket for the dock in the back of house and nothing on the floor.

There is one frame for hot and cold. Because the C1 Pro uses the same well, a venue buys one set of Classic or Universal frames and two kinds of element rather than two kinds of buffetware.

Best applications

Where it earns its place

Hotel breakfast line

80°C hold for eggs, sausages, rice and stews from first cover to last, no flame in a room full of guests.

Carvery and roast station

110°C setting keeps a joint and its plate hot for two hours of carving.

Outdoor and garden buffets

No cable to run and no flame to blow out. Use a lid; wind is the enemy of every heat source.

Off‑site catering

Charge overnight, carry in the B28, serve on arrival. Spare packs cover a long service.

Tabletop and room service

Under a T40 deco base or in an S28 set, a single cell keeps a sharing dish hot at the table.

Retail hot food display

Deli and grab‑and‑go counters without a heated cabinet or a lamp.

Venues with open‑flame bans

Tents, heritage rooms, ships and hospitals: anywhere a fire marshal has already said no.

Premium residential

A dinner party dish that stays hot through a long evening, with nothing under it that can burn.

Not the right tool for
  • Cooking or reheating from cold. The H1X holds food that went in hot.
  • Service longer than the hold time without a spare pack.
  • Unattended overnight holding.
  • Subzero service. That is the C1 Pro.
